Breast Augementation- what to expect

By dnschultz24 - Posted on 21 June 2008

I had 410cc saline implants surgery in February 2008. I have no regrets on having them done. I was barely an "A" cup and had thanked Victorias Secrets for helping me with some cleavage prior to the surgery. After the surgery, I am a full "C" cup, small "D" and I LOVE IT!
For those of you contemplating the surgery, here's what to expect. First, Dr. Cruise will make sure that you are aware that he is not only a Dr. but he does care a great deal about you and your health. Any questions or concerns, he will answer them even up to the last minute. (Its said that the surgery hurts like hell the day after, but I beg to differ. I was up shopping the following day looking for sports bras that zip up the front)(Sears has them for under $20)
The day prior to surgery, take the anxiety medicine. You shouldn't feel "out of it" but lack of apprehension of the following day's surgery.
So day of the surgery, don't pee until after the dr's office gives you a cup to pee into. They can refuse to do surgery until a pregnancy test is done. (It took me over an hour and gave into having a catheter put in me, to pee) After surgery, you will be groggy; which is why they have another person to drive you home. When you get home, take the meds that Dr. Cruise tells you to take. Then rest. It's recommended to sleep at an angle, trust me it helps having two or more pillows propping you up. You're skin color maybe yellow for a day or two. Don't worry it goes away. Try to get up every hour or two to prevent getting a feeling of stiffness. It really didn't happen for me, but you never know.
The following morning it may feel like an elephant is sitting on your chest. Have someone help you sit up. What I found works is to roll onto my side, swinging out my legs first. Dr. Cruise will be seeing you the day after surgery, for a follow up. (Don't be afraid of how "high" the breasts are, they will drop.) He will give you instructions as to how to take care of yourself for the next 2-3 weeks until he sees you again for your follow-up.
(if you are feeling discomfort in the breast area, I used bags of frozen peas as ice packs. They work great!)
If you are concerned about taking time off of work. I had my surgery on a Thursday, took off Friday; then it was the weekend. I went back to work on Monday. But that's me, do what you think will work for you. Only you know how well your body works at recovery times.
I hope this helps you feel less apprehensive about having the surgery. I love my new breasts!
