Face lifts Make A Comeback In 2007 Baby Boomers Lead The Way

From what I’ve been seeing during my travels around the plastic surgery web and news sites, the general consensus seems to be that face lifts have been on the decline since the year 2000. This statistic struck me as odd, taking into account all of the hype being made of T.V. shows such as Extreme Makeover (ABC), The Swan (FOX), I Want a Famous Face (MTV), Plastic Surgery: Before and After (TLC), Dr. 90210 (E!) and Miami Slice (Bravo) and others? I thought the numbers would have been higher…

Enter in the baby boomers –

Baby boomers are now and will continue to be the largest cross-section of people in this country to place such a high value on health and wellness. The staggering amount of money they spend and the ever-growing list of new health and wellness products and surgeries are a testament to that fact.

I read an interesting article recently from Medical News Today which quoted figures from 2007 that show a significant rise in the number of facelifts performed.

Quote:
Despite increasing consumer demand for less invasive procedures for facial rejuvenation, facelifts are making a comeback with female and male baby boomers. According to the latest statistics released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), facelifts are up 14 percent for patients ages 40 and over, with nearly 116,200 procedures performed in 2007. Facelifts, the sixth most popular surgical cosmetic procedure, have also increased 14 percent for women and 16 percent for men since 2006.

Vanity never goes out of style and you can’t blame baby boomers for wanting to look and feel their very best.

One thing’s for sure… if these numbers hold up and continue though the next 10 years or so many Plastic Surgeons' calendars will be quit full.
