A study published in the July 2007 issue of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery finds that patients seeking cosmetic rhinoplasty often exhibited personality abnormalities including obsessiveness, hypochondriasis, and "good faking," or making false statements that make them look better compared with others. Authors evaluated the personalities of 66 rhinoplasty candidates to determine what their rate of satisfaction with the procedure would be.

Earlier this month a blogger named Penelope Trunk who’s also a columnist for the Boston Globe wrote an interesting article about how plastic surgery may be the next must-have career tool!
In the article she takes a look at studies done by author Gordon Patzer who’s recent research for his new book Looks: Why They Matter More Than You Ever Imagined explores the advantages, good “looks” have on society, business, and life in general from birth onward.

Most Women Do Not Tell Their Children About Pending Surgery
Despite the new book (My Beautiful Mommy) which tackles the question of of how best to engage children about these procedures, It seems as though not all women tell their children about their up-coming surgery.
According to Dr. Jean Loftus a board certified plastic surgeon from Cincinnati, OH and author of the book The Smart Woman's Guide to Plastic Surgery not all of her patients are comfortable discussing their surgeries.

"I don't know whether to laugh or cry," said Diana Zuckerman, president of the nonprofit National Research Center for Women and Families, after reading "My Beautiful Mommy."“This is disturbing on so many levels," she added. "For one thing, it perpetuates a completely unrealistic ideal" of female beauty: the large-breasted, wasp-waisted, midriff-baring Barbie-doll look”

In a recent study conducted on patients who had undergone previous nasolabial fold (NLF) treatments with Restylane (hyaluronic acid/HA, Medicis), it was seen that there was a strong preference for Juvéderm Ultra (HA, Allergan) among the patients. This study was conducted by Jessica Wu, M.D., clinical instructor of dermatology at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
